Foreclosure Rescue Scams – Beware!!

If you or someone you know is facing foreclosure, beware of these scams.

• If anyone asks you to pay a fee for a counseling service or a loan modification on your mortgage – DO NOT PAY FOR IT! There are many free services that can help you out. Go to http://www.hud.gov/offices/hsg/sfh/hcc/fc/ for more info.
• Beware of people who pressure you to sign papers immediately.
• DO NOT sign over the deed to your property to any organization or individual unless you are working directly with your mortgage company to forgive your debt.
• If someone says they can save your home if you sign over the deed to them, DO NOT DO IT!
• Never make any mortgage payments to anyone other than your mortgage company without their approval.

Scam artists will prey on people who are in a vulnerable position and are struggling to meet their monthly mortgage payments. Recognize and avoid these scams. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me and I can point you in the correct direction.
